Meet Splash Omnimedia, Gia DeYoung

photo of Gia and her husband, Corbin

Gia DeYoung started at Splash Omnimedia in 2016 and quickly became the smiling face we all look forward to every day. She lives in Columbia with her husband Corbin and cat Puddin. When she’s not busy writing content or optimizing websites, Gia loves spending time with her husband and gearing up for the holiday season. We had the chance to sit down and have Gia share more about herself.

Where are you from?

I’m from Lexington. I’ve lived here my whole life.

Favorite color?

Yellow!! And gray and purple.

What have you learned about yourself while working here?

I’ve learned a lot about teamwork and solving problems; how to juggle and how to find my balance, even when things are challenging; how to stay positive and to keep a level head; how important it is to be kind always, even on the hard days. Mainly though, I’ve learned how to more effectively pray for and better show love to the people around me.

What did you do before working here?

I was a student at the school of Journalism and Mass Communication at USC.

What gets you out of bed in the morning?

The promise of brand new day to keep practicing my purpose. And my Buffy the Vampire Slayer alarm clock.

What’s an interesting fact about you?

I’m the 6th great-granddaughter of the Great Chief Justice, John Marshall, and I can trace my American heritage definitively through birth and death records all the way back to the Randolph clan, considered the “Adam and Eve of Virginia.” My ancestors came to America on the ship, the Fortune, in 1621. (I’m not super interesting, but my family sure is! Bonus fact: The Liberty Bell cracked while ringing during the funeral procession of John Marshall in 1835!)

What moments can you think of that shaped your life?

I can think of a number of defining moments that led me to where I am now, but my favorites are definitely meeting and getting to marry my husband, Corbin.

What do you think the world needs more of?

Humility, compassion and understanding.

What are you most proud of?

My redemption story. How far I’ve come. How different I am now compared to who I used to be.

What are your favorite things to do?

Hang out with Corbin and our best friend, Trevor. Watch YouTube videos. Pet my cat, Puddin. Go to Hobby Lobby.

What do you like to learn about?

Disney. Advertising. History.

What are you most thankful for?

Oh my gosh, so much! Things highest on the list: My salvation. Unending grace–literally all day, every day. Corbin. Puddin. My family and friends. Columbia Crossroads Church. Disney. Christmas. Dr. Pepper. Harry Potter. Badgers. Chinese food.

What do you want to be when you grow up?

A Disney Cast Member.
